I hope that this post will address many of the concerns I have read on the forum yesterday and today in regards to crossgrading from IMail to ICS.
While your post is appreciated, only a very small percentage of the posts were concerns about crossgrading that are addressed here. Almost all the concerns are about price.
If you have a current Service Agreement for IMail or IIM, and are not interested in crossgrading to ICS, you will receive service for the life of your SA. This means that when we release software updates, such as 8.14, 8.15, etc., you will get those updates just as you always have. You will also continue to receive phone support for the life of your agreement. Ipswitch is not taking anything away in terms of service or support for the current product.
In other words, "We've raised the price of the Service Agreement about 10-fold".
Here are some examples of how this works:
The examples work fine. The price does not. People just aren't willing to spend $4,000 to upgrade to ICS, if they just need the baseline package.
Also, bear in mind, that the crossgrade and renewal prices include subscription fees and are not just for service and support.
Again, the problem isn't with the price of those subscription fees -- it's with the requirement that you pay for them. Why would someone want to pay you a subscription fee if they just use the baseline package?
To fix this situation, you need to offer IMail as a baseline package, by itself, with no add-ons, at a price comparable to what it was. If you are losing money at the current pricing level, just say so, and raise the prices to a point where money will not be lost.
