FYI,
Imail filter referenced: B~name =.{1,64}\. com:!BOUNCE!
If you process an email from Microsofts 'Office Online' suite, view source:
You will see a SmartTagType near the beginning of the document. The tags
themselves are not the problem, but the default content of one of them is:
One default tag is
<o:SmartTagType namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"
name ="place" downloadurl="http://www.5iantlavalamp. com/"/>
What causes our spam filter to catch this was that 'name =' is what would
also be in the body of an email that contains an attachment -- so first, it
was identified as a potential attachment, and 2nd, '*. com' is a common
virus attachment file extension. Once our filter saw 'name =' and '. com'
within 64 characters, it bounced the email.
The reason I mention this to this list is the fact the filter used is listed
as an example with Imail
(http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19980116-DD08.htm) -- this means that it
would not be uncommon for other recipients to bounce or even automatically
delete Microsoft's 'Office Online' emails should such similar filters be in
place.
p.s. I've added obvious spaces to this email as not to trigger the filter,
should it be in place on your server.
