I do believe they think we are the idiots. And, I sense they are going to hold out on this thinking that after the dust settles people calm down and crawl on their bellies to the Ipswitch temple and beg forgiveness from the genius that started the whole mess.
This reminds me of when my dad, a former higher-up at an exclusive manufacturer, was booted out the door. The company was actually doing quite well, despite the economy. But, in an effort to 'improve' the bottom line, they hired a bunch of young guns that had all the answers. These 'suits' didn't have a clue about the product line, the existing customers or the industry in general the company served. But, they just had to make changes to justify their existence. So, after doing some 'marketing research' they made sweeping changes to the way the company did things. It took about 4 years, but the demise of the bleak future of the company was cast in stone after their disruption of business as usual. A company that was a leader in their industry, even with a failing economy, ended up near the bottom in relatively short time. My dad, who had dedicated nearly 30 years to helping this company become a leader was, overnight and because of his age, reduced to working for a small machine shop running a drill press for peanuts... all because a bunch of snot nosed college boys that thought they had all the answers. The college boys got their money and moved on, while ruining a company and almost all those working there. My dad? Well, through some connections he had, he ended up going to work for a failing company and within a couple of years not only made it a profitable company, but also put it very near the top of its game... all without marketing research and without laying off a single person. The best part of the story is that he hasn't seen a day of college and really doesn't know the first thing about how to sell something. What he does know is how to treat people, customers and employees alike. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matt Robertson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, November 08, 2004 18:17 Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Was OT: Now basic unanswered question > I have to say my interpretation of that is that they will do it but > don't want to advertise the fact; probably out of a lingering sense of > denial or perhaps a bit of petulant hubris.
