Ok, if you are talking about attacking the spammers bus I fully agree. But
attacking a web host without first giving them a chance to boot the
spamvertizer is like attacking a bus driver that didn't know what one of his
passengers was going to do so he couldn't have stopped it. All the other
passengers on this hypothetical bus also have no warning so they can't do
anything to prevent the bad guy from doing wrong to begin with. Actually
they have no way of know and no authority to do anything. This is not black
and white here, there is a grey area where some web hosts have no idea their
clients may hire a third party to spam about their site. Attacking someone
like that is just wrong! Why is it some people are having such a hard time
wrapping their mind around this concept?

I went to the Lycos site to learn what I can about their approach. No where
did I read that they first warn the entity that is hosting their site. I
know that any of us would drop the spamvertizer without a second thought,
hence not needing Lycos to attack us to get the point across and us needing
to figure out how what and why it's happening before we can put a stop to
it. We have several sites that share the same IP, if that IP is attacked it
would take a while to sort out the target and shut it down. In the meantime
everyone else we host is a innocent victim. Any Internet professional that
lacks the ability to comprehend this should find another occupation IMHO. If
Lycos notifies before the attack, I to will put a screen saver on every one
of our machines! If not, anyone taking part is foolish IMHO. It's the
mentality of a lynch mob.

Yes. That's exactly what we are saying. Since the bus driver/bus company
will not do ANYTHING to stop the shooter. It is currently too profitable
for the Bus company to keep people off the bus that have automatic weapons,
so they look the other way.
