Darrell, I use the control access quite a bit. We are small compared to most of the folks on this list (my log files are only about 2MB to give you an idea of how small :) I have about 30 IP addresses and about 25 IP ranges/blocks and I do not have any performance degradation (running on a celeron 766mhz pc with win2k pro). So it probably just all depends on your situation.
