Mark,
In reference to:

Is there a "make" option for imap-2006 that would generate shared
libraries (.so)? I thought that maybe adding "EXTRACFLAGS=-fPIC"
might do it, but it didn't (however, I'm no expert in doing this).
I had the same errors when building PHP against other packages that
didn't have shared versions of their libraries, but those packages
had a '--shared' option on their ./configure script which solved the
problem. Now I'm having the errors (ld: fatal: relocations remain
against allocatable but non-writable sections) again when trying to
link in the c-client library.
Thanks...

Thanks René for helping him.
For what it's worth, I know little about PHP and I can't be of much
help in debugging PHP build problems. I don't mind answering
questions about c-client internals, but I haven't a clue as to why
the PHP bugzilla people thought that I would know the answer to
this one.
