[Imap-uw] using c-client to get the IMAP banner and raw CAPABILITY response

I've been playing around a little with some "creative" ways of using 
c-client to obtain the IMAP server's banner and raw text response to the 
CAPABILITY command, but I was hoping there might be a cleaner way than 
using either mm_dlog() or spelunking private parts of the mailstream.  
Any ideas on how I could get this information from the main c-client API?
