Hello, is it possible to move from mbox to mbx while keeping the old "mbox" files (/var/mail/$username) _and_ let the users have their IMAP folders in their home directory (/home/$username/...)?
Our current uw-imap setup uses the old unix mbox file located in /var/mail/$username. User- and client-generated subfolders are in the user's home directories. The mailfolders in ~ should stay in mbox format as they are mounted with NFS. Today I installed uw-imap on a testing machine and generated the mbx-file in /var/mail for my test user, but uw-imap kept complaining that it could not open the INBOX file. After a while I discovered that uw-imap seems to need a file called INBOX in the user's home directory. The MTA delivers the mails to the mbx format file in /var/mail and uw-imap then moves it to ~/INBOX but this is not usable in our setup as ~ is a NFS mount on the real machine (on the testing machine it was a local mount). I thought I could use mbx as some kind of drop-in replacement for mbox, but as the user's mail files are split in ~(NFS) and /var/mail(local) and we'd like to keep the mailbox file for incoming mails in /var/mail, the need to create an INBOX file in ~ (is there something I missed in the documentation?) is a restriction that would not allow us to use this format. uw-imap is 2006k (most recent one) running on Linux. _______________________________________________ Imap-uw mailing list Imap-uw@u.washington.edu https://mailman1.u.washington.edu/mailman/listinfo/imap-uw
