Legacy mail stores could make this very difficult.

Defining a mailbox annotation for some sort of GUID (please, make it
an arbitrary string and not an integer!) is an easy thing.

Doing the reverse mappings (guid to mailbox name) is definitely
trickier and I don't think it would be worthwhile without redesigning
the basic data model of IMAP.
