You can, but many programs won't know what to do with multiple PTRs.
They may use only the first record they see.

This is what seems to happen. Again, the problem is with the DNS I can't modify and I would like to have a "quick and dirty" solution to let my POP3 users to access my mail server without problems.


Thinking back at the error messages I'm getting the problem is reported by inetd not from ipop3d, anyway this is the only deamon that is complaining for misleading DNS entries so I thought to manage the problem with ipop3d
