Hi, I'm new to Revolution, up until now admiring from afar. Now that
I've finally dived in, I love it! This is exactly what HyperCard
should have grown up to be. I really appreciate all the good design
decisions made in creating Revolution, and your alacrity about
acknowledging bugs and releasing fixes.

The $200 cross-grade for HyperCard users is a great deal. I would
have waited a lot longer before diving in if not for that price
incentive.

Revolution's written documentation has worked well for me, and I
appreciate the growing availability of third-party documentation,
such as HyperActive Software tutorial on converting from HyperCard.
Kudos to HyperActive for such a well-written and useful effort.

The 1.1 version for Mac OS was initially frustrating, teeming with
bugs and startling error messages associated with Revolution's own
internal scripts, but the 1.1.1 beta version relieved my frustrations
and allowed me to get to work. I know you've still got a fair amount
of bugfixing ahead of you, but it's clear you're committed to
tackling them.

That brings me to the question of single-user licensing. The $350
standard license basically buys a snapshot of the current version of
Revolution, without entitlement to any future releases, even bug
fixes. Am I understanding that correctly?

FileMaker, Inc. handles this issue in a very customer-friendly,
loyalty-building way. They sometimes release bug fix patches for
older versions of FileMaker, while only charging for major new
releases with new features. For instance, they released Y2K bug fixes
for FileMaker 3 and 4 even after those products were no longer sold.
You can see patches for old versions of FileMaker at:

I hope you'll consider providing free bug fix patches for people who
purchase the standard license, and if you do, say so on your
licensing page. People may shy away from purchasing Revolution if
they fear they'll discover bugs after they buy the product, but have
no recourse for having them fixed.
