This is not unusual, otherwise spammers could just get a dial account, and
start sending their trash.
Almost every ISP makes provisions for their customers to GATEWAY through
their servers (just have the client enter their ISP's mail server & port,
and authentication data as the "Outgoing Server" (most clients now have
provision for separate Incoming vs. Outgoing authentication information).
