Hey Doc, There is no such things like Mac HDD or windows HDD, it just depends upon the partition table which u have formatted for, viz Mac uses HFS+ and Windows uses NTFS and FAT is compatible with both Mac and windows.
Also, you can go for any ext hdd and there is no harm in partitioning the hard drive, as I am personally using a hard drive With 3 Partitions. 1 for data (both Mac & windows) 2nd as a bootable & 3rd as OS Installer. -- Regards, Rahul Sent from my iPhone On 20-Jun-2012, at 10:04 PM, "Dr Neeraj Bijlani" <[email protected]> wrote: > Thanks akshay but as I asked in my query mac hard drives are really costly > compared to the windows one so thus I asked if I can just format the one > which is available after partition where one partition in fat 32 format to > use with both win and mac and other half to use as a time machine backup > > Neeraj > Sent on my BlackBerry® > > -----Original Message----- > From: AKSHHAY JOSHI <[email protected]> > Sender: [email protected] > Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2012 21:51:57 > To: <[email protected]> > Reply-To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [imug-users] external hard disc > > Hi Doc, > > WD has a version for mac too you can chk on the below link. > > http://www.wdc.com/en/products/productpicker/ > > R/s, > > Akshhay. > > On Wed, Jun 20, 2012 at 2:49 PM, <[email protected]> wrote: >> Hi, >> I don't have any idea about your iphone app query, hence couldn't answer. >> >> Regarding your query for today, u can partition the hard drive through >> disk utility and use one as a time machine and the other can be used for >> both windows and mac in one external hard drive.
