How about "Luna" as a potential distribution name for Project Indiana's
output?
This
1) doesn't include the letters s-o-l-a-r-i-s
2) is clearly a close cousin
3) has all sorts of pithy associations
There's the sun, but the moon is a lot closer... let's shoot for that. :)

Listen to this guy, he is actually from "Indiana University"!
But seriously, I think "Luna" is awesome.
I don't know if we are ready to start brainstorming other names, but
it's worth bearing in mind that existing trademarks, especially in the
technology industry, are likely to be off-limits.
In this case "Luna" is the name of a theme in Windows XP and an
expensive Nokia handset (neither appear to be trademarked), but it is a
trademark of SafeNet, Inc. Not saying this disqualifies, but before
we chip in with naming ideas, it's worth checking to see if they are
taken or not, and certainly not saying I don't like the name: I do.
"OpenSolaris" is still my preferred option, however.
