I just don't see those differences in Linux distros as being a big deal, which is why earlier I asked somebody to elaborate on the "big problems with Linux." Most enterprise environments do most of their work using a single distro that they chose, not ten different ones, and while these superficial differences might present little problems in porting scripts, they don't cause interoperability issues. Solaris has what I consider to be a worse problem, which exhibits itself on a single system: we have /usr/bin/prog, /usr/xpg4/bin/prog, and somebody probably stuck /usr/sfw/bin/prog in there, too. I never thought I would need to waste so much time thinking about the ideal value for PATH! _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
