It was an internal town hall (heads up) that Ian gave to the Solaris engineering. There was a rather lengthy email thread post discussion, but as far as I was aware there wasn't an official SAC case number assigned. Nor do I believe for a second it was 'approved automatic'. Sounds like wherever you got your information, it was pretty misinformed.
