ZFS really is better than SVM, and Linux volume management, by a
large margin.

Other items on the wish list are:

* Kernel compatibility with Linux kernel modules.
   For the device drivers.

* Default to Display Postscript.
Because Linux fonts just plain suck.

* Default to the GNU development environment.
With /usr/bsd and /usr/ccs for compatibility.

* Use Postfix as the default MTA.
   Like SuSE.

* Install bash, sh, csh, and tcsh by default.
   With a POSIX-compliant /bin/sh.

* Offer both KDE and Gnome as login-time options.

* Use a simplified boot script structure. With support for only
   2 run levels.

* Keep Large System and Enterprise Software support.
   For paying customers.

* Start offering good Desktop Support, nothing as bad as the Java Desktop
or (gasp) CDE. Reverse this longtime Sun weakness (since the early 90s)
because desktops are where mindshare is won.

* Default install with a single partition per disk (excepting
swap). Because newbies will paint themselves into a corner with
useless partitions and blame the OS when they become full.

* Spend a lot of time designing a simple installer. Like Sun has
had for years, and like Debian has just recently developed, but
delivered on a live CD with as many device drivers as possible.

* Offer a minimal boot CD, able to download all non-essential
   software packages.

* Dispense with static binaries. Just like Sol10.

* And whatever you do, maintain support for the Sun (Unix Type 6)
   keyboard. :-)

(Lots more where that came from)...
