This might sound a little odd, but man pages. I always get a little annoyed when man pages don't properly reflect the distribution/ version that they're on -- it's one of those small signs that says "we're not *really* paying attention to fit-and-finish". An indiana (5) or release(5) would be particularly nice as well. Perl and the BSDs are excellent examples of high-level views via man page.
