Just for the record, I wasn't suggesting we *should* -- I was just
pointing out that doing so wouldn't actually make it any harder to
distinguish from non-supported offerings like KDE, XFCE etc. on the
login menu. And the GNOME community themselves believe that the term
'GNOME' shouldn't actually appear on the desktop, wherever possible.

Well, it uses parts of it. It also rejects some parts of it as being
unsuitable for Solaris. Some of the apps we add (like StarOffice,
RealPlayer, Flash and Acrobat) are also nothing to do with GNOME, and
some of the GNOME apps we add (e.g. the upcoming NWAM GUI) will never
become part of the official community GNOME desktop. So at what point
does "GNOME" become "not quite GNOME", and then "not really GNOME at
all"? :)

(This is entirely a question for the GNOME community to answer, btw, not
for Sun. And I know they've thought about it in the past, but without
coming to any firm conclusions AFAIK... Glynn might have more insight,
having served on the GNOME foundation board for a while.)

Cheeri,
Calum.
