I'm generally favorably impressed with the Indiana LiveCD and installation.
Still, as expected there are some kinks to work out...

Yes, I too see the problem of not being able to su after attempting to add
privileges via the Users & Groups -> Properties GUI.

I can still power down the system via the power button, but I'm ready to
reinstall since I don't seem to be able to get the privilege/role/root model
sorted out.

Here's my recollection of how I got here:

>From LiveCD install, I created an account for myself and assigned a root
>password. [Bad practice or not, since it's a personal test machine I used the
>same password when the installer asked for a root password and for mine.]

When logged into GNOME as myself, if I tried to Shutdown, got the
gnome-sys-suspend needs privilege error.

Went into Users & Groups, picked my account, clicked several additional
privilege boxes, hoping to make that problem go away-- I did not clear any
boxes. I did this a couple of times, adding privileges each time.

I no longer get the gnome-sys-suspend message when I Shutdown, but it doesn't
seem to do anything either.

When I try to su to root, I get "Roles can only be assumed by authorized users".

Now when I try to bring up Users & Groups it prompts for a password and won't
accept either mine (which is same as root's) nor "opensolaris".

It's also a bit unsettling that I don't seem to be able to get a console log in
from the GNOME login screen. Is that still possible but not enabled by
default, or no longer possible?

I've read that at least some of these are already logged as bugs-- is there
anything someone wants me to try to reproduce or verify and log or should I
just reinstall and move on.

Eric
