Orange is a "reasonable choice" for a _foreground_ color BASED on your choice of _background_ color. If the background color was orange you might well have chosen a different color.
Based on the other colors on the bootsplash the choice of orange (and it is a little dark blob) comes into question. The positional choice is odd; that you would cut a reasonable graphic in half with this orange blob that stops and starts. The graphic would be even better if it were dithered properly, but we digress... Does it even offer any funtionality, no. If the boot freezes the orange blob merrily continues its pointless journey from left to right, silent about any problems. This foolishness hides the boot info that us techies love, but I admit that the 'average consumer' might prefer the Windows XP bootscreen. It would make far more sense to have a light blue streak slide underneath the words opensoLaris - to highlight and present the name (which needs to have a version (or 2008.11) added somewhere). Want to see a cool graphical bootscreen that is useful.
