This--I am sure you know this better than I--also underscores the critical importance of the need to establish a massive database of user experiences, in order to accelerate the process for OpenSolaris to be more widely accepted as a great OS. & this is what I meant by "everyone needs to chip in".
OpenSolaris does not, practically speaking, allow multiple booting with itself. This substantially cuts down the number of data points that we can extract from one machine. Of course you can do multiple snapshots or run multiple VMs, but I am talking about conventional multiple booting. One way to overcome this limitation is to install OpenSolaris in an external HD, and then use multiple USB HDs to do multiple booting (& thus collecting multiple data points). As I understand it, Build 105 is supposed to have solved the problem that prevents os0811 from booting from a USB flash (but not os0806). Looking forward to trying this again. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
