I'm curious if there is anything more to the protocol(s) used by IPS other than
simple HTTP. I ask, because our PacketShaper sees the traffic as EarthV-HTTP.
Does IPS use any part of the EarthV protocol "suite", or is this merely an
error in the PacketShaper signature?

If you don't know what it is, PacketShaper is the product name of a bandwidth
management/shaping device from Blue Coat (formerly Packeteer). It uses
signatures to characterize applications, and in this case it thinks IPS is
using EarthV-HTTP. I've made an exception for it, but I'm going to bring this
to the attention of the manufacturer if this is truly an error.
