Well, that's not really true in this case. I see support for MacOS, Windows
and Linux in the code. I'm getting closer. Hope to be done today. This
bug was closed but it doesn't look like it was fixed.

How does this get fixed in the OpenSolaris pkg?

I've added Dermot to the cc list as he's the one who did the initial
work integrating automake into OpenSolaris.
You might want to also look at the ARC case log for this

Also, Stephen has a recent proposal for "verexec" which would be useful
in this situation
