Alan.
What I am seeing is different. I did modify my .fonts.conf to use a
different font than SunDotum.
I am attaching screenshots to show the problem. 'k u d u' letters when
typed should give 'ku du' (2 characters) as shown in b123 screenie.
Instead I get 'k u d u' differently in b124 screenie.
This used to happen before, in Firefox 2.x, when it was not compiled
with --enable-pango.
So, I think something is wrong in the Pango configuration.
Thanks
Siva

I recently upgraded to OpenSolaris build 124 and suddenly find that my

Was there any change to GNOME font rendering libs (Pango/Xft) between
123 and 124?
I think libXft2 was the only font rendering library that didn't change
between those two builds.
From the X side we upgraded freetype from 2.3.7 to 2.3.9,
and fontconfig from 2.5.0 to 2.7.1. GNOME integrated their
upgrade from 2.26 to 2.28beta, which would have included new
revs of pango & gtk. libXft2 is the only one I can think of
that didn't change, but it's due for a new release soon too.
There were some fontconfig issues in a few locales found and
fixed for 125:
6868776 fonts.conf customizations don't have any effect
6869348 installing lang-support-all hijacks existing default fonts for some
locales
