We really need a reasonable way to upgrade from SXCE to OpenSolaris
without destroying the SXCE root pool. I wouldn't mind if this requires
an SXCE installation using ZFS root, but as one would expect, I want to
keep the current ZFS root filesystems in rpool for possible roll-back.

I see that Alan Burlison has a blog entry describing how he did this:
http://blogs.sun.com/alanbur/entry/upgrading_from_nevada_to_opensolaris

Is there any easier way to do this? (i.e. directly from the live CD?)
Are there any plans to support this type of upgrade?

Some sort of "transitional" tool similar to "lucreate; luupgrade"
that creates an OpenSolaris root FS would be sufficient...

Thanks,
Gordon
