We really need a reasonable way to upgrade from SXCE to OpenSolaris

an SXCE installation using ZFS root, but as one would expect, I want to
keep the current ZFS root filesystems in rpool for possible roll-back.

I see that Alan Burlison has a blog entry describing how he did this:

Is there any easier way to do this? (i.e. directly from the live CD?)
Are there any plans to support this type of upgrade?

Some sort of "transitional" tool similar to "lucreate; luupgrade"
that creates an OpenSolaris root FS would be sufficient...

If you search the lists, you'll see that the upgrade question has been brought up many times. The short answer is that some sort of upgrade process is planned but there is no time frame for delivery and it will not be soon.
