... I have been considering this plant to be *P. acerifolium*.

Search on internet shows that both *P. suberifolium* (cork-leaved
pterospermum) and *P. acerifolium* (maple-leaved pterospermum) share most of
the commonly known names in Indian languages.

Couple of pages in a Google book (behold the URL:

http://books.google.com/books?id=puIWAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA1-PA1525-IA4&lpg=RA1-PA1525-IA4&dq=Pterospermum+suberifolium+difference+acerifolium&source=bl&ots=SiqsnyOO4W&sig=x8FP3mJ9uoZrmrgSqU5-MPuPP3o&hl=en&ei=H0vKSZLSHITO6gOI1bW3Ag&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result#PRA1-PA1525-IA3,M1
)

... gives some account of difference among the 2 species ... please note the
hand-painting numbered 1526, on page above description of *P.
suberifolium*... the leaves illustrated are clearly different.

I am convinced that the one discussed here is *P. acerifolium*.
Friends and experts to further validate.

I have some photos of P. acerifolium at
