Thanks Dinesh-- I'm pretty certain it's a Ptychospema species then. I'm no expert in the genus, however. There are several multi-trunked species, the most common of which (here in Florida, USA) is P. macarthurii (not P. elegans, a single-trunked species, as I first stated).
Check here for some good photos: http://www.palmguide.org/palm_genera.php Regards-- Ken. ________________________________ From: Dinesh Valke <dinesh.va...@gmail.com> To: Kenneth Greby <fstf...@yahoo.com> Cc: efloraofindia <indiantreepix@googlegroups.com> Sent: Tue, May 18, 2010 8:14:25 AM Subject: Re: [efloraofindia:35206] DV - 15MAY10 - 0425 :: pencil palm Kenneth, the stem diameter is about 2 - 2.5 inches ... about 3 m clear trunk. Got excited about (so) slender garden palms. also wondering whether these palms have a habit of growing in cluster (like bamboo cluster). Many thanks for hints already provided. Regards.
