In Jharkhand what we have the stem in dark brinjal colour, too tall
and too hard to bite in comparison to the green ones in Uttarakhand
and parts of UP.

>> Dear Dinesh ji
>>
>> There exist several cultivars in sugarcane (all belong to the same species)
>> and are different in colour, size, sweetness etc.
>> CoC 671 is the variety which is widely cultivated in a variety of soil &
>> climatic types, espl in S.India. While providing the highest % of yield, it
>> has several other good qualities too. Co 86032 has higher sugar level. Co
>> 8021 is resistent to 'red rot' disease. Co 88121 is the purple coloured
>> variety.
>>
>> I had chance to work with Dharani Sugars Pvt.Ltd., one of the largest sugar
>> factories in southern India. And it was a 'sweet' experience!!!
>>
>> CoC 671 (Co stand for Coimbatore - Sugarcane breeding institute, where the
>> var. developed) is my favourite for some reasons!
