Hello to All,
I am a constant user of the Aspell Hindi spellchecker in GEDIT. All day
long I am typing in Hindi, and this spellchecker has been a tremendous
help to me in creating accurate, lengthy Hindi documents. At the same
time, there is one serious challenge I face with this spellchecker,
which I would really like to solve somehow. It is this: there are a lot
of English words interspersed throughout my Hindi documents. All of
those, the Hindi spellchecker underlines in red, thinking them to be
wrong as they are not in the Hindi word list. This makes it difficult to
sift through and find the Hindi words i.e. the words which are truly
misspelled. This is perhaps the greatest problem. Additionally though,
all the red underlines create a general distraction when trying to work.

I see two possible solutions:

1) Make the Hindi spellchecker ignore English words. And make the
English spellchecker ignore Hindi words. That way when I am running the
spellchecker, it will not uselessly highlight words which are in fact
correct but pertain to a different language.

2) What would be much better: Make some adjustment to the program to
allow English words to be entered into the Hindi word list, and Hindi
words to be entered into the English word list. That way I could add the
entire English word list to the Hindi word list, and also viceversa.
Currently such an addition of another language's words to the word list
is not permitted.

The second solution would be far preferable. But the first one would
still be a great improvement over the current situation.

I am not certain which version of Aspell I am running or if that
matters. But if you need to know, then kindly let me know how to check
that and I will report back to you.

Here is the Hindi word list I am using:

GNU Aspell 0.60 Hindi (हिंदी) Dictionary Package
Version 0.02-0
2007-10-26

Over the years, I have added thousands of words to it and corrected many
errors. For this reason I am reluctant to switch to any other
spellchecker.

Many thanks for your thoughts, considerations, and help.
Best,
Swarup
