(Sorry for top post, but other contents are apparently irrelevant). After trying this out myself, and failing, I had raised this issue on aspell-user list, and the answer from the developer is that this is not possible right now.

So, the anciliary question I have - how do apps like OOo / LibreOffice manage it?
