The 2005 JEMS Games offers you the unique opportunity to showcase your ability to provide quality prehospital care in a competitive setting. As a competitor you will get the chance to meet EMS providers from all over the world, learn new skills and you might even win a CASH PRIZE!

What you need to know:

Teams
Your team needs to have three members, with at least one paramedic. EMTs, RNs and military paramedics are eligible to compete as long as they work in a prehospital setting.

Preliminary Competition
Teams will be judged on their performance of critical prehospital assessment skills and treatment rendered to simulated patients. Scores will be based on two parameters: proficiency and timeliness. Teams will have 10 minutes to assess and treat the standardized patients presented to them. Individual scores will be tallied at the end of each round with the top 10 teams moving on to the finals.

Final Competition
The final scenario will pit finalists against each other as they react to and manage a number of patient assessment, treatment and transportation challenges. Scoring will be based on skill, speed and technical accuracy. The lead paramedic on each team will wear a wireless microphone to allow the audience to hear what is being said by team members. This will be an exciting and educational opportunity that you won't want to miss!

Entry Requirements
Teams are required to wear their departmental uniforms. Certification/license will be required at check in. Competitors must bring a specified list of medical equipment (ALS and airway kit, etc.), but will be supplied an ECG monitor/defibrillator/pacer, backboard and primary stretcher. Rules and guidelines outlining equipment needs will be sent to each team after you register for the JEMS Games.
