In pre-sanscritic times saturn is called ṣani (not śani). Today
senasurā. śāni is my error.

Dear Heiner, Saturn is usually called śani (or śanaiścara), not śāni.
Is it called śāni in Sri Lanka? The dictionaries record attributive
śānaścara. Best wishes, Asko

If the bird is blue coloured it may be a crow, the emblem of the
planet Saturn (śāni). In Sri Lanka at each monastery you will find
flags with this crow and a short prayer for śāni to counteract his
influence, which is most feared by the people.
May be you search the text for śāni or its Hindi equivalent.

Dear List,
The following folio is the first of eight with a drawing of a bird
and accompanying text in Hindi. I should appreciate it if some one
could identify where this manuscript comes from.
Many thanks,
Ken
