However, I was deeply disappointed that President Habibie did not make good use of the occasion of the Chinese New Year(Tahun Baru Imlek) to publicly convey his good wishes and greetings to Indonesian Chinese. Such a gesture will be grately appreciated by Chinese communities all over the world and will also improve Indonesian international image. In this new Era of Reformation in Indonesia, the President should publicly declare Chinese New Year as a National Holiday. This will be greatlyt conducive for promoting ethnic reconciliation and brotherhood. American president and leaders of many democratic countries always express good wishes to their Chinese citizens during the Chinese New Year as a gesture of good will. We must not forget that there are nearly 10 million Indonesian of Chinese descent, the greatest Chinese community in the whole world. Thank you and with best regards, Wan Shou-lu, Taipei, Taiwan. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Didistribusikan tgl. 19 Feb 1999 jam 02:46:18 GMT+1 oleh: Indonesia Daily News Online <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.Indo-News.com/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
