Political events in Indonesia to me it is now almost like an activated nuclear reaction. Can anybody understand and control it anymore. Just hope it will be Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Grew up with Bengawan Solo, I have always thought it is a traditional folk song. The name Gesang I have seen on the music sheet, but I have always thought it was like Anonymous. So I was gladly surprised that Pak Gesang actually exists and still living. My salute to Pak Gesang for writing such a legendary song. I can never tired of playing and singing Bengawan Solo. Being such a musical people with beautiful and gentle music, I often wonder why the Indonesians have another hard and dark side as evident by recent riots and brutality across the archipelago. Songs like Bengawan Solo, Kunang Kunang and other songs of Ismail Marzuki, Keroncong, Folk songs from different regions, Dangdut (must get to know it better) and lately of Ebiet and Iwan Fals. Even BJ knows how to sing properly. So it is obvious the Indonesian people know about the fundamental of music, namely the harmony. So why oh why can't they apply the same principle of harmony to their social and political affairs.
