BTW, have you read the Kairanvi's book:Izhar-ul-Haq that presents >119 numbers contradictions in the Bible? > Nope, I never read his articles on Bible contradiction and Izharul Haqq book. The only articles written by Shabbir Ally that I have read: 1. About Moon God (http://members.tripod.com/~islamx/q/moongod.html) 2. His debate with Joseph (Jay) Smith. (used to be on this site: http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~isoc/ but I don't know why it's gone now...) My references for my comment last time are: - Bible Criticism Page at Muslim-Answers site compiled by Br.Abdurrahman Robert Squires (http://www.muslim-answers.org/bible.htm) - Christian-Muslim debate (http://idt.net/~balboa19/) Many articles here related to the articles posted by Jochen Katz in www.answering-islam.org. Jochen has been an active participant in soc. religion.islam discussion since early 1990s. - Michael T. Griffith's essay A READY REPLY: ANSWERING CHALLENGING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GOSPEL (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/MGriffith_2/errant.htm) I didn't put my reference since I thought the users will not take them so seriously as you do. >Don't want to deal with you deeper and deeper, just want to make it clear if >you really want to learn more about the Bible or Christianity, please ask >and read the good books that referred by a Christian. As an example: you can >read the cleared-up answers for all of Mr.Shabbir/Kairanvi's confusions at >http://debate.org.uk/topics/apolog/contrads.htm. I have visited that site few years ago. I have been talking to Christians (Protestants & Catholics), Jews (rabbi), Mormons, Agnostics, Atheists here in the US to understand their religious perspectives. I was even engaged with a regular weekly discussion with a priest and two born-again Christians for about a year, mostly about the Qur'an and the Bible and the difference concept of divinity in Islam and Christianity. I have also been regular visitors in soc.religion.islam, soc.religion.christian, soc.religion.christian.bible-study, alt.messianic, and others. I have read CS.Lewis' "Mere Christianity", Josh McDowell's "Evidence that demand a verdict I & II", "Ready Defense", "More than Carpenter", and other apologetic writers on the subject. For you who are proud of using McDowell's books, there's a site built in response to McDowell's Evidence on the web... (http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jeff_lowder/jury/) >It must be admitted that we have in certain places followed explanations or >interpretations that are not specifically stated in the text. This is entirely to be expected >when four authors write independently. Far from casting doubt on their >accounts, it gives added credibility, as those details which at first appear >to be in conflict can be resolved with some thought, yet are free from the >hallmarks of obvious collusion, either by the original authors or any >subsequent editors. > There are several books written in effort to resolve the contradictions in the Bible, for examples: -Norman Geisler's WHEN CRITICS ASK, -Gleason Archer's ENCYCLOPEDIA of BIBLE DIFFICULTIES, -William Arndt's BIBLE DIFFICULTIES & SEEMING CONTRADICTIONS -John Haley's ALLEGED DISCREPANCIES of the BIBLE However, most of the answers are either superfluous or inconsistent. One of the answer they admitted was : "SUBSCRIBAL ERRORS". Can you trust a book claimed as Words of God that contains even ONE error??? George Bernard Shaw one of famous English writer said : "Even one word was taken from a Holy book, the whole book should be thrown away". The case we have seen not only one word but chunks of verses were taken out. The issue of Bible contradictions has been around for a long time since the findings of manuscripts and canonizations of the gospels in 4th century. It's not a new topic. Christians and churches authorities have been involved in discussions, debates, even wars because of the Bible. The Bible had been always in the hand of Church authorities, NOT in the hand of people. The Church canonized the Bible several centuries after Jesus' ministry. Everything that was not in agreement with the Church was banned by Church. They said those "banned" gospels were satanic in origin or contained false doctrines. There is one ancient document that contains a list of apo- crypha gospels, The Decretum Gelasianum de Libris Recipiendis et Non Resipien- dis (the Gelasian Decree of Books to be received and not to be received), which were supposed to have been existence by the 6th century C.E, which includes "Gospel of Barnabas" (Evangelium Nominae Barnabae) in it. Those who think Gospel of Barnabas was a FORGERY from 16th century have to consider this fact! Epistle of Barnabas (please do not confuse this with Gospel of Barnabas dates between 70-100 C.E. and is counted among many New Testament scholars as a part of the Apostolic Fathers (important early Church writers and leaders). For example, the Epistle is mentioned very early by both Origen (185-254) and Eusebius (265-340). It is found in the CODEX SINAITICUS, an important Bible manuscript ascribed by biblical scholars to sometime between midfourth to the early fifth century C.E. The Epistle is not found in any version of today's Bible. Why? There are many verses in the Bible nowadays that are explained by footnotes which say this verse is not to be found in other manuscript, or else. You can check this. * 1 John 5:7,8 has been also expunged from many Bibles. The NIV Bible put in the footnote: (not found in any Greek manuscript before the 16th century). This verse is the explisit proof for Trinity. King James Version still hold this verse intact. Why? * Mark 16:9-20 has been expunged in many Bibles. The New American Standard Bible put this part in brackets and wrote the following commentary: "some of the oldest manuscripts do not contain vv. 9-20", the NIV Bible put these verses as footnote and stated: "the most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20) * Story of a woman caught in adultery in John 8:1-11 was taken out from the Bible. If you checked in RSV John 8:11, there is a footnote saying: "The most ancient authorities omit 7:53-8:11; other authorities add the passage here of after 7:36, or after 21:25 or after Luke 21:38, with variations of text." By the way, I watched an advertisement of children's cartoon animation video about Jesus in Cable TV. They said it is scripturally accurate, and they showed the part where this incident (a woman caught in adultery) happened. Why? * About the Ascension. The only places where Ascension mentioned in the Bible are only in Mark 16:19 and Luke 24:51. Some versions of Bible took that verses out and consider them as a fabrication. That the reason why people in England do not celebrate the ascension, consequently no holiday in the ascension. * Many other verses also show similar footnotes, which say "not found in the oldest manuscripts...", "the latest manuscripts do not have this..", etc. (I have purchased and borrowed the Greek Bible, NASB, NIV, RSV, and KJV, where I can show you the references if you want) So what's the point..? These clear-cut proofs shows that some time ago, some people have been changing (either add or delete) verses from Christian scripture. Therefore it has been corrupted or altered even in the original manuscripts..!
