"It does not matter whether they endorse the election returns because they only have few supporters and won't have representatives in the House of Representatives (DPR) or People's Consultative Assembly (MPR)," said PDI-P figure AP Batubara here Monday. He was commenting on the conclusion of the plenary meeting of the General Election Commision (KPU) earlier in the day where 27 out of 48 poitical parties represented in the KPU refused to sign the report on the election results. The senior PDI-P cadre said it was better for the small parties not to sign the election reports at all "rather than make a fuss about it". "People also know that they are not even represented in the DPR/MPR. So, let them shout, nobody will listen to them," Batubara said. According to him, if Gus Dur (Nahdlatul Ulama leader Abdurrahman Wahid) made a fuss, there would be an impact because Wahid had a mass following. As an example, he referred to the religious meeting organized by Wahid in Jakarta on Sunday, which was attended by some 150,000 people, including leaders of some big political parties.
