"Interfet should be fair and must take action to accelerate the interest of the two conflicting group there," spokesman of TNI, Maj. Gen. Sudradjat said here Monday. He regrets very much the perception of some international communities who say that 21.5 percent of East Timorese who prefer wide ranging autonomy should be under the 78.5 percent of the East Timorese who reject Jakarta's offer of autonomy within Indonesia. He hoped the international community would not influence a public opinion that the majority should be the leader and the minority must under the majority. "This must be clarified and the rights of the pro-integrationists should be admitted," he said. Sudradjat reminded Interfet to maintain democratic values in every action which will be taken during their presence in the former Portuguese colony. He also urged the United Nations to see what happens in East Timor, where Interfet troops are creating cooperation with Falintil <the Armed Force of CNRT> to demolish the pro-integration group members. Meanwhile, commandants of the pro-integration fighters <PPI> on Sunday held a consolidation meeting in Mota Ian village, Belu regency, West Timor, and encouraged their men to continue fighting to maintain East Timor as a province of Indonesia. The meeting was attended by the key figures of the armed wing of the pro-autonomy camp, like Joao da Silva Tavares <PPI commander>, Eurico Guterres <deputy commander>, Joanico Cesario and figures of the political wing, Miquel Babo, Domingos MD Soares, Tito Baptosta, Josefina Barros and Clementino C. Branco. Mota Ian village borders on Batu Gede area in Bobonaro regency, East Timor. <T.PTE-01/18:23/INT-TA/NN-03/TB05> ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Didistribusikan tgl. 8 Oct 1999 jam 07:41:02 GMT+1 oleh: Indonesia Daily News Online <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.Indo-News.com/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
