Many file browser programs, notably Sun's filemgr, actually peek inside every file to try to find enough information to know what application to launch when the file is opened. For large directories in AFS, this is a losing proposition, the cache gets filled with a bunch of useless pieces of files. Has anyone thought of a way to beat this phenomenon? Thanks, Dale.
