I was getting the same panic with a SparcII running 4.1.1 and 4.1.2.
AFS 3.1b and 3.2 beta. Although, I wasn't even trying to set memory cache.
I narrowed it down to some sort of timing problem (after swaping some
hardware). If I use a -verbose flag it all works. Note: The
-verbose flag only works if you use it on the console. If you start
AFS by hand through an xterm the problem still exists. I spent weeks
on the phone with my support rep on this. I don't know if Transarc
has investigated it any further.
