Also - what was the command you used to erase the branch tag before you
started seeing this error message?

To do a fresh checkout, I am just doing a "cvs co PROJ".

By fresh checkout I meant that I am running a new checkout an empty
folder on my local system.

What is the full command line you are using for your checkout? By "fresh
checkout" do you mean you are using an empty directory or are you
running a new checkout where there already is one?

Subject: cvs [update aborted]: missing expected branch

Hi ppl,

This is how I messed up. :(

I added a branch tag to a file.
Immediately, by accident, I deleted the branch tag from the same file.
Then, I used cvs admin -o to delete the file revision created by that
branch tag

Now when I try to update my local copy with the branch, I get an error
"cvs [update aborted]: missing expected branch"

If I try to do a fresh checkout of the branch, I get the same error.

Please help me to get rid of this error.

Thanks,
mist.
