So, the rule that > .newsrc.eld must not be deleted should be taken seriously, not literally. Unfortunately whether that rule applies depends on a lot of details of how you use Gnus. For example, the way I use it, I can delete .newsrc.eld anytime without loss. -- Sean Whitton
