PLEASE SHARE: --------------------- 2003 ITEC’s Fall Conference “New Directions” October 12-14
Student Showcase ITEC’s 2003 Fall Conference will highlight two outstanding keynotes. On Monday morning, October 13 Bernie Dodge, father of WebQuests, will address the conference. In addition, Bernie will be part of a panel discussion Monday afternoon called “Visions and Voices.” Federal and State policymakers and several Iowa business leaders have also been asked to contribute their ideas and vision for Iowa’s schools and students in the 21st Century. On Tuesday morning, October 14 Don & Marcos, two nationally distinguished educators, have been tentatively scheduled to speak on their topic of, “Lights, Action, Learning.” Their emphasis and focus will center on transforming the classroom with digital video planning, construction, and development. Both keynotes will follow up with two additional sessions with more details, specifics, and expertise. We hope to bring more educators and students to listen to these innovative educators and at the same time showcase Iowa’s students. In order to highlight student work and promote the efforts of classroom teachers, media specialists, technology and curriculum coordinators, and administrators ITEC is inviting schools to provide poster sessions and/or student demonstrations. We will place Student Showcases in three grade classifications of K-4, 5-8, and 9-12 and hope that all curricular areas and will be covered. Students, teacher or school representative, and parents will be admitted free to the Fall ITEC Conference for that day if they present a two hour demonstration and/or poster session and a one hour presentation. Topics for sessions should focus on, but are not limited to, technology integration in the classroom. We would also like to promote the specific topics of WebQuests, school web pages, portfolios, etc. on Monday, to coincide with keynote Bernie Dodge. Tuesday’s specific, but not exclusive, topics could focus on digital video, multimedia, and the like to link with the Don & Marcos keynote.
