We use a solution from Global Reach in Ames.  All page editing is done via and easy to use web interface.  The Global Reach solution allows specific people access to add/change/delete pages only in sections they are authorized for.  It does not require any HTML knowledge, if you can run a standard word processor you can add web pages.  One of the key features is that as a district you specify the "Look and Feel" of the site.  All pages will then conform to the image the district wants to present.  All page linking is managed by the web software and is capable of automaticaly removing links when specific data is no longer relevant.

So assign the "Lunch" section to the school cooks, "Sports" to the Coach, and so forth.  Also included are several "Dynamic Modules" that will allow Calendar of Events, Feedback forms, FAQ, and I believe Discussion boards and basic surveys will also be added within the year.

Global Reach presented at our March Tech meeting and as soon as I am able I will publish the presentation.

The cost is $160/month signing a 2 year contract with Global Reach.  Web hosting is E-Rate priority 1 eligible.  I expect that most districts will pay $50-$80 per month for the service once they apply for it through e-rate.  There are other pricing options available as well.

As a user of the program I have been happy with the ease of posting content to the web site.

Subject: [info-tech] Web site

I have been trying to learn HTML, ASP for our website.   I want something that is more user friendly than ours is.  It was set up several years ago and there is one student here that knows the whole thing and I am trying to learn.

We are thinking about going out to a website service.  Could you give me feed back as to what you do for your website and who your service is with?

Thanks
