I just dl'ed Blender for my Linux box, (http://www.blender.org/cms/Home.2.0.html ) but they also have other platforms.   Their page says: Blender is the open source software for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, post-production, interactive creation and playback. Available for all major operating systems under the GNU General Public License.   I'm thinking its kinda like 3D studio Max.
