NewspaperARCHIVE - Iowa Education Edition NewspaperARCHIVE - Iowa Education Edition is new to the trials. It is an online database that gives Iowa schools and public libraries access to tens of millions of searchable full-page historical newspapers. The free version, Iowa Education Edition - Basic, offers content from 1759 to 1977 from newspapers throughout the U.S. and abroad, but excludes titles from Iowa. The no-cost database is a valuable resource to access early articles about people or events that impacted the world, such as the flights of aviator Amelia Earhart, the election of Abraham Lincoln, the 1969 moon landing or the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. More recent newspapers, as well as content from more than 200 titles in Iowa, are accessible with the upgraded version, Iowa Education Edition - Pro. This version, which includes historical content that is specific to Iowa, allows students to read first-hand accounts about local events that occurred decades ago, find articles about notable Iowans and identify stories that give local perspective on significant world events.
