Karl, It sounds like you want a roaming profile. Most schools shy away from roaming profiles. They take a lot of network resources to push the desktop/profile over the network every time some logs in. Why save to the desktop and not just to the students home folder? Maybe I am confused on what you are doing with the Mac/PC integration.
