I think, by default, it makes the mac share read only. Be sure to go to
properties and uncheck the read only option. Also, I know there are domain
policies that need tweaked for macs to use the share correctly. Here they are:

Local Policies: Security Options, and set the following:
Microsoft Network Server: Digitally sign communications (always): DISABLED
Microsoft Network Server: Digitally sign communications (if client agrees):
ENABLED

Now, if you want the Server to be able to connect to the Macs on the network,
or any Samba server (I think), set the following in the same Local Policies:
Security Options area:
Microsoft Network Client: Digitally sign communications (always): DISABLED
Microsoft Network Client: Digitally sign communications (if server agrees):
ENABLED

And finally, if you want the domain's Windows boxes to be able to connect to
the Mac/Samba, set the following:
Domain Member: Digitally encrypt or sign secure data channel (always): DISABLED
Domain Member: Digitally encrypt secure data channel (when possible): ENABLED
Domain Member: Digitally sign secure data channel (when possible): ENABLED

Good luck!

I went back to the Computer manager, and saw new tasks, so I followed the
wizard. (I set up the folder manually the first time, so I unshared it.) It
gave a window that referred to the mac share which was not available manually.
Simple solution, but sure took a lot of head scratching. I wonder if I'll
remember this the next time I have to do it. I'll guess I'll just have to
follow the wizard.

When you add the shares make sure to add Mac. That should be it.

Had to rebuild a window 03 server which had services for Mac on it. Upon the
rebuild, can’t remember the trick for it to see the uam volume.

1. I’ve added services through the control panel

2. I’ve published it through the server manager, (there wasn’t a special
section for macs)

3. I’ve added the guest account to the volume (enabled it in the active
directory)

4. This machine is not a domain controller, could that be a factor???

5. The client is running 10.2.6

Thanks for any input. Currently the machines can not see any servers…

Later,
