Hi Rita ~
I did a search as well after reading your post and also
found actmovie.exe on my system . It's a 268 Kb application
that's been in my system since 12/6/99. It's never been shown
to be a virus with any of my scans after definition updates in
all that time. I use InoculateIT PE and it has caught stuff for
me before I've even realized it was there. I also couldn't find
any listings in any Virus warnings/hoax lists.
I don't know for sure if it's a "window component" (it would
seem to be) but it sure doesn't show up as any virus, that I can
find. Maybe someone out there can enlighten us.
You're most correct about this group, and I'd stick with this one.
I've never been steered wrong by anyone on this list.
Sincerely,
Diane

I joined another list a few weeks ago and needless to say, it's noting like this list where ladies and gentlemen act accordingly. The language is abusive and insensitive .. no I am not a prude, I just find it unusual.
There seems to be a discussion which I missed most of about a virus called actmovie.exe. I scanned with Norton and found no virus. I am up to date on all my virus definitions. I run Win 98 SE.
I searched and found actmovie.exe in two places in Windows|System. I left it alone. Can anyone tell me if this is indeed a virus or is it a component of Windows system.
Rita
